Imagine, for a moment, that you find yourself stalled on your spiritual journey. Concerned, you go to your spiritual adviser for help and for guidance. Imagine that you're told that the only way to move forward on your path is to stop communicating with your spouse as they don't share your faith. Imagine that you're told that your Mother is antagonistic and that she is the reason that you've stalled. Imagine that your child is called a "Potential Trouble Source" and that the only way to reach enlightenment is to "disconnect" from your offspring. Imagine that your best friend is declared a "Suppressive Person" because they disagree with your faith, and that you are told that if you continue to associate with them that you risk being declared an "SP" yourself and as such you'd no longer be allowed to participate in your faith.
Now imagine that you have to write a letter to the people most important to you telling them that you do not want to have any further contact with them; that you will not accept phone calls or letters. Imagine writing in the letter that you'll have nothing to do with them, at least not until they join your faith.
It seems an absurd situation, and yet this is a story that's shared by thousands around the world.
It is the purpose of reconnect.org to bring these stories to light, to show the pain and suffering caused by Scientology's policy of disconnection. It is the purpose of reconnect.org to serve as a repository of the heartache and pain, and to provide, we hope, a way for those who have been disconnected to reach out to their lost loved ones and to provide them the means to reconnect.
